This summer, I had the opportunity to attend a technology camp that was unlike any other I had attended before. The focus of the camp was on computer science and programming, and I couldn't have been more excited to learn and grow my skills in this field. One of the things that stood out to me the most was the diverse range of students who attended, all of whom were driven and passionate about technology.
Insightful Learning at Cal Poly Pomona!
The first week of the camp was held at Cal Poly Pomona, a university known for its strong programs in engineering and computer science. We had the opportunity to not only learn from top-notch instructors, but also explore the campus and its resources. One of my favorite experiences was getting a tour of the school's advanced robotics lab, where we saw cutting-edge technology being developed and tested.
In addition to the classroom learning, we also had plenty of opportunities to engage in hands-on activities. We participated in team-building exercises that challenged us to solve problems and communicate effectively with our peers. We also had the chance to work on our own coding projects, which allowed us to put our new knowledge and skills to the test.
Surviving and Thriving at Computer Camp
The second week of the camp was held at a wilderness retreat center, where we slept in cabins and spent our days coding in a rustic outdoor setting. It was definitely a challenge to adjust to the lack of technology and modern amenities, but it forced us to be creative and resourceful in our work.
One of the most valuable lessons I learned during this week was the importance of collaboration and communication. We were all in it together, and we had to work together to overcome challenges and make progress on our projects. There were times when we hit roadblocks, but we were able to bounce back and find solutions by tapping into each other's strengths and expertise.
Overall, my experience at this computer camp was transformative. I gained new skills and knowledge, made meaningful connections with peers and instructors, and developed a deeper appreciation for the role of technology in our lives. I'm excited to continue pursuing my interests in computer science and programming, and I'm grateful for this camp for providing me with such a rich and insightful learning experience.
